Popular Questions Asked:
Q: How does it work?
A: Car-Rep has an innovative, patented, process of pre-mixing the polyurethane clear coat with a dehydrated urethane hardener and injecting it in the aerosol can. The polyurethane clear coat when used with dehydrated hardener, it will not activate until it comes into contact with humidity from the ambeint air when sprayed out of the aerosol can. The spray application at that time begins a 2K cross linking process and will achieve an ultra high gloss finish that is chip, scratch, chemical, and u.v. resistant.
Q: How durable is it?
A: When applied correctly you can expect Car-Rep 2K Clear Coat to be as durable as the original finish currently on your vehicle and in very often even more durable.
Q: Can I sand and polish?
A: Absolutely, However a 48 hours dry time is first required then at that time it can be sanded and polished as you would with any polyurethane clearcoat.
Q: Will it be compatible with my existing paint?
A: We have found Car Rep Clearcoat to be universally compatible with lots of types of paint finishes in both solvent and water based. However, we have not tested every paint brand and type on the market so we do recommend testing a small area for a compatibility check prior to spraying your whole project.
Q: What is the square footage rating?
A: Approximately 10-12 Square Feet per Aerosol can. One can should be enough to paint cover the front fender on a mid-sized car.
Q: Can I use Car Rep 2K Clear Coat on headlight lens and if so do I need a primer first?
A: Yes, Car Rep 2K Clear Coat can be used on plastic lens covers without the need to use a primer or adhesion promoter first. If refinishing yellowed headlight lens simply sand the lens using 400-600 grit to remove the yellowing, refine the scratch using 1000 grit, wash with soap and water, clean using a plastic cleaner or Isopropyl Rubbing Alcohol, then apply 2-3 coats of Car Rep 2K Clear Coat directly to the sanded plastic.
