Question: Can this clearcoat be sanded and buffed?
Answer: Yes, provided you get enough clear on the surface. Usually you will want to apply at least 3 good coats of clear first then allow 24-36 hours before sanding with 1500-2500 grit wet sand paper. Then use a good quality buffing system such as 3M Perfect-It for a mirror shine.
Question: Does it work on wood surfaces such as a guitar body?
Answer: Yes, it works very well on wood surfaces. However, you will want to apply extra coats because wood tends to absorb the clear more than a metal surface will. My recommendation is to apply 3 full wet coats, allow it to fully cure (24-36 hrs) then sand flat with 800 grit and reapply 3 full wet coats.
Question: Can I use this clear coat over other spray paints?
Answer: Depends, SprayMax clear coats are generally very forgiving with what they are applied over. However, I would highly recommend a test panel prior to spraying over your whole project. Usually if you apply the paint, then after it has dried about 1 hour but not more than 3 hours is the best time to apply clear coat. If the paint surface is already fully cured, it is recommended to sand the area with 800 - 1000 grit sand paper prior to applying clear coat.
Question: Is this Spraymax clear gas proof?
Answer: Yes and No, SprayMax Clear is not gas proof but it is chemical resistant. For instance, you would not want to lay a gas soaked towel on the clearcoated surface and expect it to hold up, but it is resistant enough to repel intermittent gas exposure such as occassional spillage.
Question: Can I use this on plastic headlights?
Answer: SprayMax Clearcoat was not designed for use on plastic headlights. However, it does work very well provided the surface has been properly cleaned and sanded prior to application. I recommend final wet sanding with 800 grit sandpaper then clean using SEM 38353 Plastic & Leather Prep.
Question: I am wanting to clear coat my aluminum wheels, Can SprayMax clear coat be used for wheels?
Answer: SprayMax clear was not designed specifically for wheels. However, it can be used provided you have properly cleaned and sanded prior to application. Now with that said, there are other products on the market that are much better suited for coating wheels such as KBS Clear Diamond Finish Clearcoat.
